A Boy Without A Name

Since Hurricane Ike Devin hasn't been able to go to work because there is still no power at his office. We decided this would be a perfect time to have a baby. We had an appointment on Thursday where my midwife stripped my membranes to get things moving along. I had contractions that night and thought for sure we would be heading in, but then they stopped. So Friday morning we headed back in to strip again. My midwife said, "Ok now go walking and if nothing happens by noon then call me."

We left the birth center thinking it was going to be quite a while so we headed to the mall to get some walking in. By the time we got to the mall my contractions were 4 minutes apart. So we basically got there and turned around to head back to the birth center. By the time we got there I couldn't even tell when one contraction was stopping and the next was starting. Still thinking it was going to be awhile, we checked in to the birth center and I had a seat on the exercise ball. We called our parents to let them know that we were there and having contractions.
We had checked in at 10:20 or so and they checked me at 11:00 am and I was already at a 5. I was shocked and excited that things were moving so quickly. Contractions were getting stronger and stronger so they got me in the tub to help with the pain.

I started pushing at 11:55 am and had a little baby boy at 12:25 pm, only a half hour of pushing and only two hours after checking into the center. Okay well he wasn't so little, he was 9 lbs 12 oz. and 21 3/4 long. We are really excited, but haven't decided on a name yet. It was an amazing experience doing everything naturally. Definately worth it.

That is amazing that he is so big and you were able to get him out so fast. You need a cape and called super women. I am so happy for you.
