Baby Update

Well I had my first appointment with our midwife on Friday. As you may or may not know, we have chosen to have this little baby at a birth center. I will be having a water birth. We have been learning so much about it and are really excited for this new experience. Yes, that means NO epidural or pain pills for me, but the water is supposed to make the contractions a little easier to handle. I have been a little worried about the size of the baby since my other two kids were 7lbs 14oz and 8lbs, and both were two weeks early. My midwife says that I will be okay to deliver a 9 lb baby, but any bigger than that and I would have to have a C-section. Next week I will be starting on raspberry leaf tea which helps prepare my body for delivery. She said she has some other natural remedies to induce labor. She would like me to deliver about a week early just to be safe as far as the baby's size. Once I get to 38 weeks I will be walking and doing everything I can to get things moving along. We will keep you posted. Meanwhile we are preparing our birth bags, yes bags, one for a girl and one for a boy since we don't know what we are having. We provide basically everything at the center so it requires a little more preparation than the hospital.

That is so exciting to be down to the wire. I hope everything goes well with the water delivery and your baby isn't too big. I didn't know you guys didn't find out if you are having a boy or girl. I can see why with one of each now. It isn't like it will make too much of a difference. You will have to let us know when you have the baby.

Shellie, hey i'm excited for you! I didn't use drugs or any pain meds with Corbin and it was just fine. I'll have to try that water birth. . . .sounds nice. Oh! i hope you do go early cuz it's probably a lot easier the smaller they are. Corbin was 7lbs 11oz. . . not too shabby. . i could definitely tell when his head was out! sorry that's probaby too much info! So, good luck!

Holy cow that is so incredible! I would love to have a water birth. Mike and I are hoping that our next baby - years away - we'll be in a big enough city that we can find a birthing center. Good luck with everything!
